Man picked up on John R., stabbed, left in street
A 31-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed by a man he'd just accepted a ride from early Wednesday morning on Detroit's east side, police said.
The stabbing took place about 2:20 a.m. at John R. and Edgevale, said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit police spokeswoman. The area is north of McNichols, and east of Woodward.
The victim was working in the area when he was picked up by who is believed to be a man in his 50s, driving a burgundy pickup.
As they drove, the older man stabbed the victim multiple times in his upper back, then forced him out of the pickup.
An officer responded to the area and found the victim lying on the ground. Medics transported him to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
