An argument apparently led to a shooting that killed a man after bullets struck him in his upper chest and face, Detroit police said Thursday.

Police are searching for a man who they say fired the fatal shots on the city's north side. Police described him as an African-American man called "Tez" or "Taz," 5-foot-3, chubby, with short dreadlocks and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and green shorts.

A witness told investigators she was sitting with the victim in his car on the 1200 block of West State Fair about 6:30 p.m. when someone approached and the two started arguing.

The man who approached the car pulled out a gun and fired the shots, striking the 33-year-old in his upper chest and face, authorities said.

The man's companion in the car drove him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the person police are seeking is asked to call Detroit police homicide detectives at (313) 596-2260.
