A 57-year-old man was carjacked late Tuesday night while stopped at a stop sign on Detroit's east side, police said.

The carjacking took place about 11:20 p.m. at Maiden and Chalmers, said Dontae Freeman, a Detroit police spokesman. The area is north of Interstate 94 and south of East Outer Drive.

The victim was in the driver seat of his green 2015 GMC Sierra, looking down while stopped at a stop sign, when two men entered his vehicle and ordered him out.

The victim complied, and the two men drove off, northbound on Chalmers, toward East Outer Drive.

Police offered descriptions for the two suspects. One is a black male, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a medium build and dark skin. He wore a white T-shirt and was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is a black male, about 6 feet tall, medium build and medium complexion.
