Police seek suspects who stole 600 gallons of gas
Detroit Police are asking for help identifying two suspects who stole more than 600 gallons of gasoline last month from a station on the city's west side, officials said.
The theft happened at about 1 p.m. on June 23 at a gas station in the 17800 block of West Seven Mile near Southfield Road, according to authorities.
Police said two men hacked one of the gas station's fuel pumps and stole the gasoline. Investigators believe the suspects used a remote device that prevented the station's clerk from turning the pump off with his computer.
Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman said the suspects had about 10 large vehicles lined up at the pump and filled their tanks with gas. He said investigators believe it took the suspects about 90 minutes to fill up the vehicles.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the theft should call the Detroit Police Department's Eighth Precinct at (313) 596-5840 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
