Detroit police were seeking a suspect in an armed robbery reported late Thursday at a west-side McDonald's restaurant.

The suspect smashed the front-door glass of the restaurant in the 21000 block of Grand River about 9:45 p.m., jumped over the counter and stole money from the cash register before fleeing, Officer Vanessa Burt said. Employees ran out of the back door, she said.

A description of the suspect was not yet available. Authorities did not disclose how much cash was taken.
