Detroit police are investigating a Sunday morning assault in a downtown parking lot that left a 28-year-old man in critical condition.

The assault took place about 3:15 a.m. in a Park Rite lot at Brush and East Lafayette, police said.

Police were flagged down by someone who told them the injured man was down in the parking lot. Police found the man unresponsive.

Medics took the man to the hospital, where he's listed in critical condition.

Details on the circumstances of the assault were sparse. Police believe that two men, from a group of six, assaulted the victim then fled northbound on foot up Brush.
