Detroit — Police are lookingt for a man who fired shots at officers responding to a 911 call early Sunday morning on the city’s west side.

The ambush took place about 12:50 a.m. on the 7000 block of Dacosta, north of West Warren and west of Rouge Park. 

Police responded to a 911 call about a felonious assault. As they stood on the porch of a house, someone fired a shot at them, forcing them to flee the porch and take cover. A black Dodge Journey in the area was hit.

After a brief foot chase, police weren't able to find the suspect, who described as standing  5 feet 10 inches to 6 foot 1 inch tall, wearing a long sleeve white shirt, blue jeans shorts and carrying a semi-automatic gun.
