A 45-year-old woman died Tuesday night in a house fire on Detroit's west side.

At about 8:30 p.m., Detroit firefighters responded to a home on the 17100 block of Hartwell on the report of a fire, said Dave Fornell, deputy commissioner of the Detroit Fire Department. The area is north of McNichols and east of Schaefer.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which had spread throughout the house, but found the woman dead on the second floor of the home.

Early into the investigation, authorities don't believe the fire is suspicious, Fornell said.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
