Two Taylor men were busted by police and fined $3,530 for illegally dumping trash from a U-Haul "filled to capacity" with garbage on Detroit's east side.

Officers observed a suspicious male walking through an alley near Seven Mile and Antwerp around 3 p.m. on Monday. They stopped to investigate and observed three suspects, two male and one female, according to a press release from the Detroit Police Department.

The individuals were dumping large black garbage bags from a 20 to 24-foot U-Haul truck full of garbage, police said.

The three suspects were detained and investigated. Eric Strong, 41, and Clarence Lake, 49, were taken into custody on outstanding traffic warrants.

The third suspect was "advised and released" due to medical concerns and taken to a local hospital.

A warrant package was submitted to Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review and approval, police said. A "Not In Custody" warrant was issued, as well, for the third suspect.

Strong and Lake were issued blight violations, considered a civil infraction, in the amount of $3,530 at the scene.

The vehicle was seized by police and all three suspects were charged with littering.

Anyone who witnesses illegal dumping in the city of Detroit are asked to call the Illegal Dumping Tip Line at (313) 235-4359.
