Drug bust leads to chase, 3 arrests in Detroit
Three people were arrested Friday in Detroit after trying to flee a drug investigation and leading officers on a chase that ended in a crash on the city's west side, police said.
Officers with the Detroit Police Department's narcotics section were conducting an operation and successfully secured a purchase when they moved to arrest a suspect, Officer Holly Lowe said.
That person then fled in his vehicle but ended up striking another car near Michigan and Fisher before hitting a fire hydrant at Hazel and Rosa Parks, where it came to a rest, Lowe said.
One of the police officers fired a shot during the pursuit but it did not strike anyone, she said.
The driver and two passengers all were taken into custody. They are all in their 20s and from Dearborn, investigators said.
One of the suspects was transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown.
DPD is conducting an internal investigation in connection with incident.
