A 15-year-old boy died late Saturday in a hit-and-run crash on Detroit's east side, police said.

The crash took place about 10 p.m. on East Seven Mile and Caldwell, which is west of Mound.

Police say that a "black SUV-type vehicle" hit the male, and continued eastbound on Seven Mile after hitting him.

The impact of the crash threw the teen into the air, and he then was hit by another vehicle, a purple 2005 Ford Focus. The 67-year-old woman who drove the Focus did stop.

Medics took the victim to an area hospital, where he died.
