A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint and had his Dodge Charger stolen early Wednesday after dropping off a friend at her home on Detroit's east side, police said.

The armed robbery took place on the 5000 block of Lakewood, which is north of East Warren and west of Chalmers. The victim had just dropped off a friend at the back entrance of the home, returned to his vehicle, and was approached by two men, both armed, who ordered him to the ground.

While there, the men stole his wallet and took the keys to his 2016 black Dodge Charger.

The victim attempted to run after one of the suspects, but was shot at and held at bay. Then the suspects drove off with the Charger.

Police offered descriptions for the two suspects.

One is a black male about 20 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 170 pounds. He wore a blue skull cap and a black hoodie with the letters GMSCA on it, and carried a silver handgun.

The other is a dark-skinned black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and about 160 pounds. He wore a black hoodie and was also armed.
