A 38-year-old woman is recovering after being shot while inside her home on Detroit's west side late Monday, police said.

The shooting took place 10:50 p.m. on the 18900 block of Wisconsin, said Dontae Freeman, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department. The area is south of West Seven Mile and east of Wyoming.

Police responded to the shooting and found the victim wounded, having been hit multiple times. She told police she heard gunfire, felt pain, and realized she'd been struck.

Medics transported her to the hospital, and she was listed in temporary serious condition.
