1 dead, 1 hurt in shooting on Detroit's east side
One man died and a second was injured in a shooting Thursday night on Detroit's east side, police said.
Both victims were standing outside in the 1000 block of Sterritt about 7:50 p.m. when a slim man about 5 feet 2 inches tall wearing black shorts "walked up and started shooting," investigators said in a statement.
After wounding one, the alleged gunman "followed and then shot the victim at close range in the back of the head" before fleeing, according to the notice.
The victim was pronounced dead.
Medics rushed the other man, identified as a 29-year-old man, to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to the stomach, police said.
