Detroit police have linked one man to as many as six armed robberies at Family Dollar stores across the city this month.

The suspect typically "approaches the register, sometimes purchasing items and producing a handgun, then demanding money from the cash register and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash," investigators said in a statement.

Three incidents were reported Friday: first in the 19700 block of Mound, about 7:20 p.m. on the 14300 block of Gratiot an hour later, then the 8700 block of East Seven Mile around 10:15 p.m., according to the release.

The next day, the suspect allegedly returned to the Mound location around 9:45 a.m., then struck the 13400 block of West Eight Mile about 30 minutes later, authorities reported.

The last armed robbery was about 3 p.m. Monday in the 20100 block of Van Dyke on the city's north side.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4, with a light brown complexion and facial hair.

Anyone who recognizes him or has any information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct Investigative Unit at (313) 596-1140. Anonymous tips can  be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK- UP.
