Detroit police are investigating an armed robbery during which a woman was briefly kidnapped early Wednesday morning on the city's west side.

The armed robbery took place at 12:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of 18th Street, which is just north of West Lafayette and east of the Ambassador Bridge.

Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman said one of the victims, a 37-year-old male, was approached by two men carrying guns. He dropped what was in his hands and fled on foot.

The suspects then stuffed a second victim, a 30-year-old black women into their early 2000s silver Chevy Malibu and tried to find the victim who had run away, but were unable.

Ultimately, they dropped the woman off from where they had abducted her, but not before taking some jewelry and cash.

Police offered descriptions of the two suspects.

Descriptions on the two men were limited early Wednesday. The men drove off in the silver Malibu.
