Detroit police seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run

Detroit police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection to a fatal hit-and-run on the city's west side. 

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Aug. 9 in the 11000 block of Plymouth when a 51-year-old man was crossing the street and was fatally struck, police said.

Vehicle is believed to be a silver compact car, possibly a Saturn, with damage to the front bumper and hood.

The man's death was discovered at about 3:25 a.m. at Plymouth Road and Rutherford, said Officer Dan Donakowski, a Detroit police spokesman. The area is just west of Greenfield and south of Interstate 96. 

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Plymouth when it struck the victim. It's believed to be a silver compact car, possibly a Saturn, and has damage to the front bumper and hood from the crash.
