An 83-year-old man died Monday night after being crushed by his own truck at a gas station on Detroit's west side, police said.

It was 6:10 p.m., at an Exxon station on the 18000 block of Greenfield, when the man parked his truck at a gas pump, said Brian Warrick, a Detroit police spokesman. The area is north of West Outer Drive and west of Hubbell.

But the truck was not parked, and was still running, and backed up toward the man, pinning him between truck and the pump. The victim died from his injuries.
