Detroit police are investigating a Saturday night shooting on the city's east side, but while a man nearly twice the victim's age has been arrested and the weapon he allegedly used has been recovered, the circumstances behind the shooting are unclear.

What police do believe is that a 33-year-old man was shot, at about 9 p.m., on the 12200 block of Maiden, which is south of East Outer Drive and east of Conner. The shooting left the victim in critical condition.

Police soon arrested a 65-year-old man suspected of pulling the trigger, and have already recovered the weapon he allegedly used, but have shared no details as to how or why the shooting took place.
