A 77-year-old woman was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday night as she tended her garden on Detroit's east side, police said — and while her car has since been recovered, it's being held by police as evidence for the time being.

The carjacking took place about 7 p.m. on the 15000 block of Bremen, which is south of East Warren and east of Alter Road.

The woman was outside gardening when four men wearing white hoodies and white face masks approached her from behind, demanding, at gunpoint, the keys to her car, a black 2002 Chevy Prizm.

The victim complied, and the suspects drove off with the Prizm in an unknown direction.

About 90 minutes later, a Detroit police scout car found the Prizm about a mile away, at Havenhill and East Warren. The vehicle was empty, with its keys still in the ignition.

Police towed the vehicle and are holding it to take fingerprints, if there are any.
