An 18-year-old man was killed while sitting in a car with New York license plates on Detroit's west side Sunday afternoon, police said.

It was about 3:20 p.m., at Coyle and Puritan — south of West McNichols, east of Greenfield — when the victim was shot multiple times as he sat in the passenger side of a white 2017 Hyundai Sonata, said Detroit police spokesman Bryan Warrick.

The victim died from his injuries.

Circumstances of the shooting were not known more than 12 hours later, nor was any suspect description offered.
