UPDATE: Click here for live coverage of Aretha Franklin's funeral.

Detroit — While Aretha Franklin's funeral Friday is invitation-only, the world can tune into many networks broadcasting her seven-hour sendoff.

The Word Network, a global religious broadcasting network, will air the service beginning at 10 a.m. It will be offered on television and be live streamed through the network's website

For Detroit-based viewers, that means the service will also be available to watch on WJBK-TV (Channel 2), WDIV-TV (Channel 4) and WXYZ-TV (Channel 7).

Portions of the event will be broadcast nationally on CNN, Fox News, ABC News and MSNBC and through The Associated Press, which will broadcast it in full.

“We are very appreciative to receive the support of The Word Network in ensuring that the ENTIRE celebration of life service for Ms. Aretha Franklin will be aired uninterrupted," Bishop Charles Ellis III of the Greater Grace Temple. "The Word Network will graciously provide a live feed to all other networks and broadcast carriers authorized by the Franklin family."

The Detroit News will cover the service live and on social media. For those unable to attend, return to www.detroitnews.com or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

The funeral

Broadcasting will begin at 10 a.m. Friday when the service starts at Greater Grace Temple, on 23500 West Seven Mile Road in Detroit.

Although the funeral is invitation-only, the public will be able to view it in person from a large screen outside Greater Grace Temple.

Ellis said the funeral could last as long as seven hours. There will also be an extensive amount of security

“Three members of the Secret Service were here today checking out all of the entrances, exits, doing a pre-check to familiarize themselves with the building,” said Ellis. “There also will be security on the rooftops, and the sniffing dogs will be at the church very early on the day of the funeral.”

In her hit song “Freeway of Love,” Aretha Franklin joyously sang about cruising in a pink Cadillac. At 8:30 a.m. on the day of her funeral, more than 100 pink Caddies are expected to file in outside the church and owners will be permitted to attend the private funeral, the church’s first lady Crisette Ellis said.
