A 27-year-old man was slain and a 17-year-old girl left in critical condition after the two were shot late Tuesday on Detroit's west side, police said.

The double shooting took place about 11:27 p.m. on the 19000 block of Prest, said Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman. That's just south of West Seven Mile and east of Greenfield.

The two victims were sitting inside the man's Chevy Impala, talking, when a man wearing red shorts and a gray shirt approached with a handgun drawn, and started shooting, hitting both multiple times.

After being privately conveyed to an area hospital, the male victim was dead on arrival, and the girl was left in critical condition.

No detailed description of the shooter was immediately available.
