Detroit — Eminem will join the Detroit Lions coin toss as an honorary captain when they kick off the season during Monday Night Football. 

The Lions made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday night saying, "Joining the #Lions captains for the coin toss is legendary Detroit-native and Grammy award-winning rapper, @Eminem."

The Lions are at full strength heading into the season-opener against the New York Jets starting at 6 p.m. Monday at Ford Field.

The rapper also surprised fans with an unexpected album, "Kamikaze," which he released at midnight on Friday.

His 10th studio album arrived Friday with no advance warning and is now available on major streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music.
