Detroit police are investigating a shooting Sunday night that wounded a 32-year-old  man on the city's west side.

The shooting took place about 7:45 p.m. on the 15000 block of Sorrento, said Bryan Warrick, a Detroit Police Department spokesman. The area is south of Fenkell and west of Meyers.

The victim was visiting family, and during the visit got into an altercation with another man.

The other man pulled a gun and fired, hitting the victim on the left side of his body. The gunman then escaped in a blue vehicle. Police didn't have further information on the vehicle's make or model Monday morning.

The victim was privately transported to an area hospital and was listed in temporary serious condition.
