A routine after-school drop off between friends Tuesday afternoon in Oakland County ended in a serious head injury to the dropped-off friend, police said.
It was about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when a 16-year-old Independence Township girl dropped off another 16-year-old Independence Township girl at her home, on the 6000 block of Foxfire Circle. That's south of Interstate 75 and east of Clarkston Road.
After being dropped off, the second girl jumped back onto the hood of her friend's car as she backed out of her driveway. The driver backed out about 100 feet with the second girl still on her hood.
Then the girl lost her grip and fell off the car, striking the back of her head on the pavement.
After being transported to McLaren Oakland hospital, the girl was listed in serious condition. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
