Employee, 24, dies at Ford Sterling Axle Plant
Sterling Heights — An employee at Ford Motor Co.'s Sterling Axle Plant died early Thursday morning after being found unresponsive, the automaker said.
In a statement, Ford says the employee died after being found in a bathroom. Sterling Axle is at 17 Mile and Mound.
Sterling Heights police got a 911 call about an unresponsive man at about 12:10 a.m., Lt. Mario Bastianelli said. Police and firefighters arrived to render aid to the 24-year-old man, but he died at the scene.
The man had told a co-worker that he wasn't feeling well before going to the bathroom. Once he went inside, he never came out.
Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play. The worker's body has been turned over to the Macomb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
According to the company, roughly 2,360 people work at the facility, which produces rear axles, front axles and rear drive units.
