A man and a woman in their early 20s were wounded in a shootout Monday night on Detroit's west side, police said.

The double shooting took place about 7:30 p.m. in front of a home on the 17000 block of Fenton, said Officer Dan Donakowski, a Detroit Police Department spokesman.

Police believe the male victim, 23, and another man, 31, got into an argument that turned into a shootout, during which the victim was shot in his groin.

A 24-year-old woman was also shot in her right calf.

Police detained the 31-year-old man for questioning, but there is no word yet on an arrest. Both guns used in the shootout have been recovered.
