1 dead, 3 hurt after pickup crashes into Detroit bus stop
Detroit — One person was killed and three others injured after a pickup truck crashed into a bus stop Tuesday on Detroit's northwest side, police said.
The incident occurred at 1:33 p.m. at Dexter and Davison while three people were waiting under a Detroit Department of Transportation bus stop.
Police say a man driving a 2009 GMC lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the crowd gathered under the terminal. A passerby called 911.
Police said the three people and the driver sustained serious injuries. All were transported to the hospital, where one died.
The three others, including the driver, are in stable condition, police said Tuesday night.
Police said it is unclear what caused the crash.
Angelica Jones, DDOT Interim Director, said in a statement, "Our hearts go out to our passengers who were struck at one of our bus stops today by an apparently intoxicated motorist. The entire DDOT family shares in the pain and grief they feel."
