Detroit — West McNichols was the site of two crime scenes overnight on the city's west side, as one man was gunned down at a gas station, and another broke into a pharmacy to steal cough syrup, police said.

The fatal shooting took place about 9 p.m. on the 20000 block of West McNichols, at a 76 gas station, said Officer Dan Donakowski, a Detroit Police Department spokesman. The area is just west of Evergreen.

Police say the victim, a 35-year-old man, got into an argument with at least two men, who police described as men between 25 and 30.

During the argument, one of the men stepped out from the back driver's-side seat of the vehicle — information on make and model was not immediately available — and started firing shots.

The victim died in the confrontation.

Police describe the shooter as a dark-skinned black male between 25 and 30 years old, standing 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a green hoodie, jeans, white shoes, and carrying a handgun.

Police describe the second suspect as a dark-skinned black male between 25 and 30 years old, standing 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and black shoes.

Just more than eight hours later, at 5:15 a.m. at the McNichols Drugstore on the 10000 block of McNichols, just west of Wyoming, a man broke into the store through its roof. While the owner will have to do a complete inventory to know what was taken, the early belief is that at least some cough syrup was stolen.

No detailed suspect description was immediately available.
