Detroit police are investigating an attack that wounded a man Wednesday on the city's north side. An officer also was sickened while at the scene.

Authorities reported the 23-year-old victim was robbed, shot and stabbed by two males about 6:30 p.m. in the 9100 block of Oakland.

The man had horse tranquilizers at the time, investigators said in a statement. When a hazmat team was sent out to clean a cooler he may have touched, an officer fainted, according to the release.

The officer was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition late Wednesday. The robbery victim also was hospitalized in temporary serious condition, police said.

Other details, including descriptions of the suspects, were not released Wednesday night.
