Cab carjacked at west side gas station, then recovered
Detroit — A 51-year-old cabbie was carjacked of his vehicle early Thursday morning on the city's west side, but while police are on the lookout for the suspects involved, they've already recovered the stolen cab.
The cabjacking took place about 3:50 a.m. at a gas station on the 14100 block of Linwood, said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That's just south of Oakman Boulevard.
The victim was at a gas station when two men approached and said "give me what you got," Lowe said.
The men then entered the victim's Checker Cab and drive off, followed by a black 2017 GMC Terrain, whose driver police describe as a suspect.
Police say two men are involved in the carjacking, but detailed descriptions were not immediately available.
The stolen cab was later found ⅓ of a mile away from the gas station, at Oakman Court and Lawton.
