Police say the victim was sitting in the rear of a 2009 silver Jeep Liberty, when a man, 40 to 45 years old, wearing a blue shirt and black pants, approached and tried to talk to her.

But the woman demurred and the driver of the Liberty drive off.

Police say the suspect then fired a round through the Liberty's passenger side door, hitting the woman in her right shoulder. The driver took the victim to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
