One man died and another was wounded in a shooting Monday on Detroit's west side.

The two had been driving in a commercial vehicle near Seven Mile and Greenfield about 11:10 a.m. when someone opened fire, said Officer Vanessa Burt, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

One of the people inside, identified as a 25-year-old man, died. A 59-year-old companion was hospitalized. His condition was not immediately available Monday evening.

Investigators did not have a full description of the suspect. More information was expected to be released Tuesday.
