Detroit — A quarrel between ex-lovers became physical Tuesday night on the city's west side, ending with a 22-year-old woman being shot and a 27-year-old man getting arrested, police said.

The shooting started with a home invasion on the 7000 block of Evergreen, just after 10:50 p.m., said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That block of Evergreen is just south of West Warren.

Lowe says the woman allegedly broke into her ex-boyfriend's home through a back door.

The two then fought, and the man was able to get the suspect out of the house.

Once outside, though, the woman allegedly busted out the windows of the man's vehicle, Lowe said.

The man, who told police he has a concealed pistol license, then allegedly shot the woman in her leg. After being privately taken to an area hospital, she's listed in stable condition.

The man was arrested and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered, Lowe said.
