Woman grabbed, then carjacked, at east side gas station
Detroit — Police are investigating an incident at a gas station on Detroit's east side late Tuesday night where a woman had her buttocks grabbed by a man who would steal her car at gunpoint moments later.
The alleged sexual assault and car theft took place at a gas station on the 19000 block of Van Dyke, just south of East Seven Mile.
Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman, said a 23-year-old woman was inside the gas station when a man, believed to be in his 30s, grabbed her buttocks.
The victim then went outside and told her boyfriend, who was sitting in a 2008 black Chevy Impala. The boyfriend, 23, then went to confront the suspect.
But the suspect pulled a gun on the couple, and would steal and drive off in the Impala, people said.
Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 30s, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin, dark-skinned, wearing a black skull cap, a black biker vest, black jeans, and armed with a silver handgun.
