Detroit — Two men were shot an hour apart from one another Monday night on the same street on Detroit's west side, police said.

The first of the two shootings took place about 7:30 p.m. on Linwood at Davison, said Dontae Freeman, a Detroit Police Department spokesman.

A 22-year-old man told police he was driving when he heard gunshots and realized he'd been shot. The victim flagged down EMS, which transported him to the hospital. He was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning.

Then at 8:35 p.m., on the 16500 block of Linwood — north of Puritan, east of Livernois — a 65-year-old man was shot in a drive-by while trying to enter his home about 1½ miles from the previous shooting.

Police say a dark-colored SUV was spotted in the area, headed southbound on Linwood. Someone inside pulled a gun and fired shots, one hitting the 65-year-old in his ankle, another in his arm.

The victim was listed in temporary serious condition.

No detailed suspect description was offered in either shooting.
