Detroit police are seeking tips to find a suspect wanted in the sexual assault of a 64-year-old woman this month on the city’s west side.

The victim was waiting for a bus near Grand River and Livernois about 2:40 p.m. Oct. 12 when the suspect pulled up in a late-model gray Nissan Sentra and asked if she needed a ride, investigators said in a statement.

When the woman got in, the man, described as in his 40s, "told the victim he had a gun, assaulted her and then sexually assaulted her," according to the release.

After hours of riding around, the suspect stole money from the victim,  then released her near Grand River and Oakman, authorities said.

The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

Officials on Wednesday released surveillance images of the suspect's car.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Sex Crimes Unit at (313) 596-1950. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800- SPEAK-UP.
