Man shot in dispute with acquaintance
Detroit — An argument between two acquaintances ended in one man being shot and the other fleeing the scene late Wednesday night on Detroit's west side, police said.
The shooting took place about 11:30 p.m. on the 19300 block of Bentler, which is north of West Seven Mile and east of Lahser.
Dontae Freeman, a Detroit police spokesman, said the victim, a 42-year-old man, and the suspect were sitting in a Ford Taurus together.
Then, the men argued and both stepped out of the vehicle.
A woman known to both men tried to intervene, but the suspect nonetheless pulled a gun and fired shots at the victim. Once he was wounded the woman drove him to the hospital. He's listed in critical condition.
Police say the suspect's identity is known but that he fled the scene.
