Detroit — An early morning  pedestrian-vehicle crash Thursday left an unidentified woman dead on Detroit's west side, police said.

The crash took place about 5:48 a.m. on Meyers at James Couzens, which is the Lodge Freeway's service drive in that part of Detroit.

Dontae Freeman, a Detroit police spokesman, said the woman, whose age is not immediately known, was hit by a cab as she crossed the street. The cab driver stopped and spoke to police, but no arrest has yet been reported.
