Road construction work will again close parts of eastbound and westbound Interstate 94 on Detroit's east side, officials with the Michigan Department of Transportation said Friday.

The agency said last month that extensive pavement repair work would close the stretch of freeway on the weekends of Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and again on Nov. 9.

The closures start on Friday night and lanes won't reopen until 5 a.m. Monday.

Officials said eastbound I-94 this weekend will only have one lane open between Gratiot Avenue and Conner Street.

In addition, both the exit to Conner and the French Road entrance to I-94 on the freeway's eastbound lanes will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, all lanes of westbound I-94 between Conner and I-75 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to westbound Eight Mile to southbound I-75 and back to westbound I-94.
