The city of Detroit will throw the lights on Friday with the 15th annual tree lighting ceremony at Campus Martius. 

An accompanying celebration will take place at nearby Beacon Park. 

The event will be broadcast on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and The Detroit News will also bring you coverage. 

Detroit native and 12-time Grammy-winning gospel music star CeCe Winans will headline the event. Olympic skating duo Maia and Alex Shibutani are also scheduled to appear.

For the second year in a row, Light Up Beacon Park will offer live streaming of the tree lighting and performances by Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers and Nadir Omowale inside the heated Winter Lodge tent. 

Campus Martius is located at the intersection of Woodward and Michigan avenues. Beacon Park is at Grand River and Cass avenues, less than a mile northwest of Campus Martius. Free shuttles will run between the two parks from 4:30 p.m. to midnight. 

Several downtown streets will be closed ahead of time in preparation for the events. The QLine will make its last stop at the north end of Campus Martius from 6 a.m. on Nov. 16 to 2 a.m. on Nov. 17.

Here are the road closures visitors should expect: 

1. Woodward, northbound and southbound at State/Gratiot, midnight Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday.

2. Monroe, between Woodward and Farmer, 8 p.m. Thursday through 8 a.m. Saturday.

3. Cadillac Square, eastbound and westbound between Woodward and Bates; midnight Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday.

4. Woodward, northbound and southbound at Larned; midnight Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday.

5. Fort, between Woodward and Griswold; midnight Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday.

6. Michigan, between Woodward and Griswold; 8 p.m. Thursday through 8 a.m. Saturday.
