Detroit police are investigating a double shooting that left one person dead Friday night near the Russell Industrial Center.

The incident was reported in the 1600 block of Clay, in the area of the large redeveloped complex that's home to numerous artistic ventures.

A man reported hearing five gunshots while inside the building about 6:30 p.m., authorities said in a statement. He went outside, spotted one of the victims on the ground then called 911, according to the notice.

A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead, according to the release. A 20-year-old man was listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Other details were not released.

"At this time, there are no known witnesses or known reason for the shootings," investigators said Friday.
