Man arrested for alleged sex assault of woman in Detroit

A 51-year-old Detroit man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman this week.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Alfred Hatchett, 51, in the alleged incident which reportedly occurred at 11:40 p.m. April 30 at a liquor store in the 17200 block of West McNichols.

The woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a car with the motor running as she waited for her sister to come out of the store when Hatchett allegedly entered the driver's side of the vehicle. According to authorities, he pointed a gun at the woman and drove the car to the 17170 block of Bentler, where he parked and sexually assaulted the woman.

After the attack, the suspect ran away and the victim drove the car to her home and called police. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man was tracked down following an appeal from the Detroit Police Department for assistance.

Hatchett was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct; one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct; one count of kidnapping, one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and five counts of felony firearm.

Hatchett was arraigned Saturday in 34th District Court in Romulus before Magistrate Millicent Sherman. His probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 14. The preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 21. Both hearings are before 36th District Judge Ronald Giles. Hatchett received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.

Michigan Department of Corrections spokeswoman Joelle Craddy  said Monday Hatchett is one of more than 10 aliases for  Kevin Green, who was paroled in April 2018 and was listed as an absconder from parole in March.

Green was sentenced in 2008 on a first-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction stemming from a crime in Wayne County in 2002. Green received a 10-20 year sentence for the CSC conviction. He has been sentenced by the courts on various offenses dating to 1989.
