Police investigate death of woman on Detroit's east side

Detroit — Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Monday in a neighborhood on the city's east side.

Officials said police received a call at about 11:30 a.m. about the discovery of the woman's body in a vacant lot on Pennsylvania Street at East Canfield Street near East Forest and McClleland avenues.

Authorities said the woman is African-American and about 30 years old. Officials said the medical examiner's office will determine the cause of her death.

Police are not releasing further details at this time.
