Detroit — Early Sunday, a 57-year-old male boater fell into the Detroit River off a marina on the city's east side, police said. He hasn't been seen since.

It was about 3 a.m. when the man fell out of a boat near the Riverside Marina on the 11000 block of Freud. That's south of East Jefferson.

A man who witnessed the incident, 39, heard a thud and saw the victim fall overboard, he told police. He went in after the man but couldn't find him.

The Detroit Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the police were all involved in recovery efforts, police said, but the man was not immediately found.
