Security guard shot in Detroit; suspect in custody

A 57-year-old security guard was shot in Detroit early Saturday and police have a suspect in custody.

Detroit police said a 40-year-old man was being escorted from a building in the 14000 block of W. McNichols at about 1:30 a.m. when he pulled a gun and fired shots, hitting the guard.

Police said the man fled but was soon found in the area of Hubbell near McNichols and taken into custody without incident.

The security guard is in temporary serious condition at the hospital, police said.
