Rideshare driver shot in her leg on Sunday morning pickup in Detroit
Detroit — A 33-year-old woman police describe as a "shared ride driver" was shot in the thigh during a pickup early Sunday morning on Detroit's west side, police said.
The shooting took place about 6:45 a.m. on the 9000 block of Grandville. That's north of Joy Road and east of Evergreen.
Police say that as the driver approached, her would-be client was allegedly damaging a vehicle in the driveway.
As she pulled up toward him, the client told her to drive.
That's when an unknown man came out of his house and started firing shots, striking the driver in her thigh. Her condition was not immediately available.
Police did not immediately offer a suspect description.
