Detroit — A 16-year-old boy, under arrest for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a police officer, escaped police custody Tuesday morning at a precinct on Detroit's west side, police said.

Chas Taylor

Chas Taylor was arrested for an incident Tuesday morning on the 1900 block of Ewald Circle, Detroit Police Department said in a statement. That's north of West Davison and west of Linwood.

Cpl. Dan Donakowski, a Detroit police spokesman, said information on the Ewald Circle incident was not immediately available.

Police say Taylor had been transported after he was arrested to the 10th precinct at 12000 Livernois. While there, and while handcuffed, he fled, and was "able to move his handcuffs from the rear to the front."

Police believe he may still have the cuffs on his wrists. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and shorts.
