Detroit — Police are looking to identify a woman, believed to be about 25 to 30 years old, who was found shot early Tuesday morning in a vacant home on Detroit's east side.

It was just after 3:05 a.m. when the victim was found wounded in a vacant home on the 14200 block of Cedar Grove. That's north of Houston-Whittier and west of Chalmers.

Cpl. Dan Donakowski, a Detroit Police Department spokesman, said someone found the woman with "severe head trauma" and notified police.

Medics took  her to the hospital, where the cause of her trauma was discovered: a gunshot wound to the left side of her head.

No other information is immediately available.

The woman is in "extremely critical" condition as police work to identify her and find out who shot her.
